Privacy Policy

Last updated · 12 August 2026

Market League is a crypto trading game. You compete in tournaments using virtual money and real market prices. We never handle your real money, we are not a broker or an exchange, and no real trades are ever placed. This page explains what personal data we collect when you play, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign up we receive your email address, your username and, if you set one, your profile picture. Sign-up and login are handled for us by Clerk; if you sign in with a third-party account such as Google, we receive the basic profile details that service shares with us.

Gameplay data. The competitions you join, the territory you pick as your flag, the simulated trades you place (instrument, size, leverage, entry and exit prices, timestamps), your virtual profit and loss, your rank, and the achievements and statistics built from them.

Technical data. Standard server and security logs produced when your browser talks to our servers, such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request.

Stored on your device. A login session cookie set by Clerk, plus two small preferences saved in your browser's local storage: your light/dark theme and the competition tier you last viewed. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this site.

Why we use it

  • To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
  • To run competitions: place you in a room, price your simulated positions, rank you against other players, and decide winners.
  • To show public parts of your play to other players in the same competition — your username, avatar, rank, simulated profit and loss, and trade counts appear in standings and profiles.
  • To keep the game fair: detecting rule-breaking, abuse and multiple accounts.
  • To fix problems and improve the product.
  • To meet legal obligations where they apply to us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for other companies' advertising. We do use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Clerk — accounts, login and session security.
  • Neon — the database that stores your account and gameplay records.
  • Upstash — a short-lived cache of market prices. It holds no personal data.
  • Amazon Web Services — background jobs that start and settle competitions, running in Frankfurt, Germany (eu-central-1).
  • Vercel — hosting and delivery of the website.
  • Binance — the source of our market prices. We request public price data only and send them nothing about you.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety, or the integrity of a competition.

Advertising

We advertise Market League on platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Those platforms may show you our ads based on their own targeting, using data they already hold about you — that processing is governed by their privacy policies, not this one.

We do not currently run an advertising or conversion pixel on this website. If we add one, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

What we never collect

  • Payment card, bank or brokerage details — the game is played with virtual money and there is nothing to pay.
  • Government identity documents.
  • Access to any real trading account or wallet.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Competition records — standings, results and the trades behind them — are kept after a competition ends so that past results stay verifiable and titles remain meaningful. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, and historic competition results may be retained without identifying you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to receive it in a portable format, or to object to or restrict how we use it. You can also withdraw consent where we relied on it.

To make a request, email us at privacy@marketleague.app. We will respond within the time limit set by the law that applies to you — normally one month. If you are in the EU or the UK and are unhappy with our answer, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Market League is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
